Cape Cod

It is a little daunting to begin the "Cape Cod" post. We did so many things and had the best time. It was the perfect vacation with small children. The fact that we had an actual house to stay in (and each boy had is own room) made it that much better. And once you throw in that Aunt Pam is tied with my mom for best cook ever, we had it made! We started out by completely overpaying to bring the bike trailer along on the plane. I had thought it was fool-proof: $15 for a checked bag. Turns out measuring it would have been a good idea. $65 dollars later, we were on our way. Did I mention that we left the house at 4:45? Impressive, I know. We took a direct flight and arrived an hour and a half later. I have never had a direct flight on the numerous times that I have flown alone with the boys, but I digress. Despite checking the weather numerous times before leaving, I was a lousy packer for this trip. Lets just say that we all had numerous cute summer outfits to wear, and no one wore any of them. It was jeans and a jacket weather for most of the trip. The second day there was glorious though. We got up early and rode our bikes to the ferry to go to Martha's Vineyard. We spent almost the entire day riding around Martha's Vineyard, taking in the sights, throwing shells and rocks into the water (a major theme of the week), and eating ice cream. It was perfection! Honestly, it was pretty much my idea of a perfect day.
Here we are on the ferry on the way over.

Here is Reid meandering down the path to the lighthouse

I have great memories of bike riding on Martha's Vineyard as a child and seeing the 'gingerbread houses'. The boys were not at all interested, as we saw these more toward the end of the day, so we pretty much breezed through them.

And this was the view by the time we returned to Pam and Bob's

Cape Cod Part II still to come.....

Me: Come on boys, let's get your shoes on. We need to go to Costco.
Connor: I can't go to Costco, I'm not feeling well.
Me: What's not feeling well?
C: My mouth hurts.
M: Let me look.
C: It's on my uvula so it's kind of hard to see....

Busch Gardens

The day after Jeremy got home, we decided to go to Busch Gardens. They give military and their family a free pass per year and we had yet to go. It was perfect because it was a Friday (not too crowded) and also it was not too hot.

The first ride of the day. We got there right when the place opened, so there were no lines at all.

This ride was aimed at little kids, but it was one of the ones that drops. Jeremy wanted to take Connor and I was a little nervous for some reason, but he was fine with it. Of course, when Daddy asked if he wanted to do it again, the answer was "No"

They had a lorakeet cage you could go in, and for the real experience you could buy the nectar and entice the birds to land on you. We tried it without the nectar and no dice. Connor was just sure that he wanted a bird to land on him. Here is the first picture.

And here he is about a minute later.

Reid just wanted to look at the bird, not have one on him.

I was amazed, but we were able to talk Connor into going on the log flume ride with me. Reid and Jeremy stayed up and a bridge and watched us come down.

The picture I took of the screen with pictures they take of you going down the drop.

Taking Reid on his first ride. Note the exhilaration.

They both loved riding on these little boats. We did this ride twice.

Reid loved it so much he applauded as he went around.

Connor insisted on riding by himself. This kind of surprised me.

Hmmm...it's looking a little high up.....

Connor loved this one. Reid did not. It went way downhill after this picture was taken

Getting ready for the 3-D Sesame Street movie to start with treats in hand.

Yep, that's my kid on a leash. Nope, he doesn't look thrilled about it. Seriously though, he doesn't seem to mind it and it is completely necessary.

It was a great day and we ended up staying until almost 5. Reid napped in the stroller and Connor pushed through. If we weren't moving we would definitely be getting season passes.

The end of preschool

Connor's end of the year preschool performance was when Jeremy was still TDY (of course), and also at 7pm on a Tuesday night. These are 3 and 4 year olds here, so that fact was a little surprising. I got a sitter for Reid and off Connor and I went.

Here we are before leaving the house; I apologize for the blurriness, but this is all I have.

Actually, all the pictures are bad. I was sitting about as far back as you could in the church and the lighting was terrible. But I want to document none the less.

Here he is doing his class performance of "Yodel Lady Who?" I know, funny title, and I hadn't realized during the rehearsals at home that this song was about vowels. It took me seeing the children actually wearing the letters around their necks to get that.

Now he is really into it....

At the end they had each child walk across the stage and get a 'diploma' and say their name into the microphone. Most just said their first and last names, but Connor said in the most serious voice I have ever heard him use, "Connor Robert Lushnat". Just adorable I tell you.
This last one is Connor with his teacher, Mrs. Stratton. When he talks about her, he will add "I love her so very much." I told Mrs. Stratton that before we left.

My little poser....

Is it just me, or is he really cute? We are still doing "playpen time", and most days there is minimal screaming....
