Dinner with the Masses

Have I mentioned how much I am loving Alabama? LOVE IT!! And a lot of it has to do with the fact that I have met a group of great women pretty soon after we moved here. We call ourselves "The Pool Moms" because, well, we met at the pool. And amazingly, most of them have boys, and several have 4 year old boys at that. There are 6 of us, and a few more have joined, so between husband and kids, it is a large group. One of the wives got the ball rolling last week by having everyone over for a potluck dinner. We were having so much fun that I suggested this week at our house. All told, we had 9 couples (including us), and a whopping 21 children...for a grand total of 39 people. I was impressed. And it went well, the kids were entertained and the food was plentiful and amazing. (I can say this because I didn't have much to do with that part.) I love that we have already made some great friends and we have only been here a month. Let the good times roll!! I only wish I would have taken more pictures.

It's just preschool, right?

Well, I have had preschool on the brain for weeks, make that months. Sending 2 year olds to a Mother's Day Out program down here in Montgomery seems to be the thing to do. Almost all the other mothers I know are even sending their 1 year olds. So, if everyone is doing it, I should too, right? Just kidding. But seriously, I had Reid enrolled at the same school Connor is going to go to for a 3 day a week program. Then, right before we moved here, I had a change of heart and decided that my baby needed to be home with me. (Temporary insanity). THe way things have been going around here, I am majorly regretting my decision. So I am looking into other schools (I mean, why drop children off at one location, when going to two is much more fun, right?). Tomorrow is decision day......

Alabama

5 Things I have learned since we left Virginia:
1. It doesn't matter that we didn't grow up with portable DVD players for long car trips when we were little. They are now a necessity. This was learned after one day in the car and remedied by finding a Costco on our GPS).
2. Packing yourself is the way to go. Our only casualty: a single wine glass.
3. Family-time rocks! (I already knew this, but had never actually lived it.) Jeremy has joined us for dinner, or in some cases made dinner (gasp!) since we left VA.
4. It really doesn't bother some toddlers to poop in their underwear everyday. Reid simply does not mind it.
5. I do not get tired of taking the boys to the pool. And this is a good thing, since it is the only thing we can really do outside what with the heat index of 110-115.
